"In Portugal, 17 287 Asian wasp nests were destroyed in 2019, according to data advanced by the Institute for the Conservation of Nature and Forests (ICNF). This number represents a 12 percent increase compared to 2018, the year in which more than 15,000 velutina wasp nests were eradicated.
The districts of Porto, Aveiro, Braga, Coimbra and Viseu, with almost 14 thousand cases, represent more than 80 percent of the nests that were destroyed in 2019..."
